    Powerton

    Is anybody catching smallmouth at powerton anymore? Never been, but heard it used to be good. Also, is the ramp gated? What are the hours you can put a boat in?

    Last time out caught 1... tomorrow starts fall hours 8am to 6pm I think. The ramp is gated also by the way.

    Anybody fished powerton this year? Is the smallmouth fishing any good?

    In the 90’s/00’s it was a fantastic smallmouth and even walleye fishery. Powerton has had several summers where the excessive water temps killed an enormous amount of fish. Although I don’t go anymore because of this, there have been rumors it is better. I wouldn’t suggest driving from Alton to go to poweron.

    I have not been this year but the lot has been pretty full most times I've drove past. I need to get the boat wet soon and I'll report back after.
