    Fish kill on Rousseau

A friend went to the dam the other evening and said it smelled like death........massive fish kill. Saw 1000's of dead fish in the water including some really big bass and a 30lb+ catfish. Hurricane stirring up the bottom the cause? Floodgates were wide open, water was dark brown.
    Question everything!

Caught wind of this about a week ago.....Anybody know if these are Rousseau fish or from up stream? I believe a pile of fish was stacked up in Withlacoochee near Dunellon 8 days ago. BTW....don't believe it to be pollution from runoff but rather extreme drop in oxygen levels from water out of the Green Swamp. Estimating almost a month before the upstream flooding will be gone. Best thing they can do is keep the flood gates open....Rainbow will keep pumping clean water in.

The SJR along Rt 46 had dead fish stacked up at each of the ramps. You could smell them way before you got to them.

I went to Rousseau a couple days ago---No more clear water and the Dam was wide open. Did not see any dead fish--must of went out the dam.

I'm not sure anyone but me actually fishes the Rainbow on purpose. I very rarely see any one there fishing it hard.

So, I went to over to Rousseau this past weekend and it's just sad to say the least. Fished for 6 hours without a bite and the FWC continuities it's all out assault on anything and everything green. Penny wart mats that have been there for years have been completely killed off just because it had one or two pieces of lettuce mixed in, the water is nasty and dark from both the hurricane and also the additional dead and rotting material that the FWC is piling up. Then we have the groups that claim they are out there to get the spraying stopped but all they do is collect photos and video but never make any moves to actually force change. I would LOVE to see an organization like Save Rodman form and have fundraising events to start helping fund a legal battle or get the information out to the general non fishing public so they can see what the FWC is doing to florida's freshwater resources.

It's been going on for over a decade now and its not stopping anytime soon, way to much money supporting that big ole rice bowl. At Poinsett and Winder the only vegetation left was some Bullrush stands around the edges, now that is all dead from over spraying, its a wasteland, criminal what they have done to our fisheries
