    How much smoke?

    I have a 2003 175 Optimax ser# OT749600
My question is how much smoke should I be seeing while at idle? My old 35 hp smokes a lot, but I don't see any smoke from the 175.

Pretty normal. They run at something like 200:1 at idle...

Oil isn't mixed with fuel- and fuel is directly into cylinders. Hence little or no smoke.

There were some "ratio numbers" published at one time. We don't use "ratios" in relationship to Optimax models, since the oil pump is PCM controlled with a number of applicable VARIABLES in the program.
