Question Gun purchase at BX ?

I'm 80 miles from my closest BX, MacDill AFB. Anyone ever purchase a gun from them or any other base? Just curious what hoops you need to jump through? I've got a ccw. Rarely ever go there other than to update ID's.

When I was at Lejeune, the PX had a great selection of rifles/pistols. Besides filling out the paperwork, they had a seven day wait before you take it home. But that was years ago.

I have purchased hand guns from Eglin AFB. It was no different than a purchase out in town. Once waiting period was over I picked up the paper work from gun counter and they brought the gun to the front of the store and turned it over to me.

I've been to MacDill's BX and the size wasn't a concern. How long was the waiting period?

Should be the same as any other gun dealer. No special provisions for sales at military installations that I know of.

I purchased one at Ft. Hood, Texas a few years ago. I was ask to make it my last purchase of the day and had to leave post with from the PX. Not a big deal, they just didn't want you running around on post with a pistol in your car.

They do some online checks and you are on your way. No big deal.

Langley AFB requires a hard copy of your current orders if you are active duty and DD214 for retirees.

I purchased one at the JRB in Ft. Worth. No issues and no wait. I couldn't take possession until just before I left the base and I had to let security know that I was leaving.

Yep not hard at all. In Texas they do run a check on you because it is Federal property. Our LTC in't recognized. Prices are either comparable or cheaper and no tax.

Purchased a handgun from the BX on the Air Force Academy.... was relatively painless. Only issue was that I had to be escorted to my vehicle then drive directly to the gate, then confirm with them that I did in fact leave the base.
