    250 SHO

Any one running one on a 21xb with success? The lower unit looks like it cant run high
    like a sport master can.

Both the 225 and the 250 work very well on the xb21. No they don't run the numbers the merc 250 will obviously w/ a stock lower unit but they are a nice for a 4 stroke and on the Bassport. Been in both xb21 with 225 and 250. Prop'd right the 250 really handles a heavy load nice if you are a tournament angler who runs pwr poles, agms batts, ton of tackle and two guys 200 plus pounds. Excellent mid range propped right. Excellent hole shot. Up to 70 very fast. The 250 SHO will run 84 with a legit trn load. Set up really nice you can get 86. But that lower unit needs to stay in the h20.

You can go two ways on the lower sport master or do the HydroTec mod to the stock lower unit. The SHO a very stout lower unit and either way would be good. I had one on an XB21 for a couple years. Darris told me it was dangerous to run it to it’s full potential so I switched to a Mercury he has since changed his mind on the SHO. My SHO with a stock gear case ran exactly the same number as a 250 XS with the sporty.

Will the SHO lower with the HydroTec mods run to the motor's full potential like a sportmaster?

I ran equal to a sport master with a stock SHO lower unit. And yes the HT mod was better.

I hope with 450 it will bust trips .. 21's running faster than that with a 300 Merc.. I have never ran a SHO but I had a Phase 3 on a Stroker, Guy that bought it pulled it and hung a Merc.. LOL . .I can't say I blame him .. . I guess different strokes for different folks but I can't see spending all that money just to run with a Merc.

I thought I read that the SHO lower unit would blow out over 85-86 mph.

I’ve owned several XS & liked them but I also owned a 250 Yamaha XCA offshore on a center console that has the same block as the SHO, it was a smooth strong engine.

So I’m curious about the SHO performance on an Xb21 also.

If you don't mine me asking. What conservative top speeds were you running with your SHO 250 with a tournament load (w/ 2 guys/ gear/ full tanks). Did you have pwr poles? What pitch/ prop? What elevation? Did you have hrd engine mounts installed?

Stock gear case. No hard mounts. Two power poles. 28 pitch Hydromotive XOB. 81-82 mph. I live in the low land 700 to 800 ft. elevation. I did buy a HydroTec mod lower unit and that got me to 84 mph.

Have you talked to Wayne about your current ecu flash? If I'm not mistaken Simon flashed yours and it has a dead spot, Wayne told me that he writes his own tune and the flat spot is gone. You should be able to pull a bigger wheel IMO

Good deal, I told Steve Glenn to tell you about the flash when you bought the boat. And I agree, no need to mess with a reflash since your adding the charger.
