NMEA and HPDI, is this what I need?

With all the talk about this lately, I have to ask...
    I have a Helix9....
Is all I need is the Yamaha Interface Cable from Lowrance and the Humminbird Ethernet adaptor cable (see link)
    https://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-QDE/

    Thanks!

Hooked mine up to lowrance ti1. Nmea starter kit, short nmea cable @8 ft, hummingbird will probably need the adapter shown above. Snip off the white connector on your motor and match the wires from the 8 ft cable to them. Should have red or/and black wire left. Red is the trunk hot for the nmea network that should be hooked to the battery, black is neutral or 0volts. Cap the black and red wires offcon the motor end. Just connect the blue and white to the motor connector. Turn on motor and graph.... discover motor and load whatever info you want. Mine will show hours, fuel pressure, rpms, estimated fuel usage and more stuff than I currently use.
Save the white connector you take off the motor and dont cut the wires too short. You can buy the special cable for it instead of cutting it but it's another 100.

I'm sorry. I read that wrong. I thought you were connecting via a nmea network not ethernet.

The OP's link is for an Ethernet adapter cable. NMEA isn't Ethernet so that adapter will not work. Lowrance NMEA connector is 5 pin, that adapter is 7 pin. This thread has some good info I guess (I don't run HB) http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=855720. There's a video towards the bottom that seems to have some good info on it. But looks like you'll need a Humminbird 408390-1 Ethernet Adapter (aka black box) that converts E-net to NMEA and vice versa.

I used this search, https://www.google.com/search?source...sclient=psy-ab. It looks like there is more info looking for HB solution rather than the Yamaha end.

    Good luck!
