Yamaha 250 Sho - keep or sell after recall work done?

Looking for knowledgeable advice, have an opportunity to buy a Ranger with a Yamaha 250 Sho but have seen many boats for sale recently just after having the new motor block recall work done. Is the motor going to be reliable after this type of work is done?

I think you are seeing people mention this because it’s a plus not a minus - yes it will be reliable. My SHO ran great before the recall and after the power head replacement. I never had a lick of trouble with the SHO - In fact I didn’t even get a chance to list mine for sale because my tourney partner wanted it.

Ok thanks. I currently have a 2000 Ranger 520 with a 225 Optimax on it. I have an opportunity to get a used Z521 with the 250 Yamaha Sho. I fish Erie so I need a reliable motor.

Not sure but if you contact Yamaha and give them your serial number on the motor they will see if it is under the recall.
