That is a good lake... Fish the rock humps in all depth ranges. Use your side finder and capitalize your efforts. You will loos seome baits if you are fishing in these rocks.... Unless it's a topwater. Be careful where you run, You can rip off the LU... Mostly in the North 1/2.

IF it was me I would fish Grand one day and Long the next........ Both fish great....I like Grand a little better in the fall because it tends to show itself easier...
There is a decent sized bass tournament up there in October....May want to check the dates and plan accordingly so you don't have to deal with a large group...
Also as 21xdc be careful where you run....They draw down Long lake some in the fall so that makes it even tougher on equipment...

Traverse city area....Lots of choices there...Charlevoix, East arm, Green and Duck lakes, Walloon, etc etc...If it was me I would fish Walloon then Charlevoix and East bay if the wind was right...

I as just up on Long in August for the first time and had a great trip. Love that lake. Not many bigger 3.5+lb fish but definitely quantity. Also fished Charlevoix around a Labor Day and crushed'em fishing the deep breaks.

One other option may be Hubbard. Giants in that lake!
