    New X5 Installation

Just replaced my old Motorguide with a new x5. The old plug is a 3 prong Marinco twist lock type and has Pos, neg and ground wires. The X5 has just two wires. Can I reuse this type plug or do I need another type. The plug is a fairly new one and was just going to reuse it.

Not sure what Wayne said, but the 3 connection plug was made with two hots and a ground. The odd (usually an "L"shape) prong is the ground. The two hots is for the older 12/24V trolling motor. Use a meter to determine the boat side voltage and wire the new X5 accordingly.
