    Removing shift cable

Hello all, I have a 1995 Ranger R70 that my shift cable has broke on! I have removed the handle off of the control box but there is no way to get to cable! My question is do I need to take control box apart to be able to replace cable or is there a easier way?

I have an R72(same thing just dual console). Take the handle off(allen set screw) and disconnect cable at motor and take out the phillips control box mounting screws and then pull control box forward enough to access the rest of the box/cable. I replaced mine . tape new cable to old cable and pull thru. The R70 series is tight in the cable/wiring channel so be careful and dont damage any wiring.

Just watch the wiring,,,,disconnect your battery for safety also while messing wiring/cable

Nope. Sorry. When I said cut cable at bend, had a brain fart and was thinking steering cable,,,disregard that statement. Not enough coffee yet.

I would replace both control cables at the same time since you are already in there and just to be safe but thats just me.

Do you have the surface mount or the concealed side mount. Surface mount is easy.
