    Restoring Gelcoat

Wondering if there is a way to restore the color in the gelcoat. The original color is ONYX Black as shown in the upper picture. The area in question as shown in lower picture is approximately 2"H x 8"L. At first it appeared to resemble a film or missed wax application but after wiping it down several times it remained. It isn't oxidation but more like fading. It is just above the fender well and there is diamond plating on top so kept thinking it was just a glare...LOL Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Start with a rotary buffer, wool cutting pad and a 3000 grit compound followed by wax.
