Ins. not wanting to pay, what are my options?

Hit something and popped the lower unit. Not much damage (deep scratch from nose cone back) on the exterior but, all gears are shot. Progressive looked at it and said it was fatigue & possibly caused by bad seal. I checked the oil before I took it to the shop & it was good, not milky or low. The shop manager said it was most defiantly from impact. Should I talk to a lawyer?

At the very least get a statement (invoice) from the shop saying it was from impact. Fax that to them and ask to speak to someone else, or if the shop service manager doesnt mind have him talk to them

Another plug for Bob here also. I had LU trouble also but tore mine off so there was no doubt about damage or not but I just dropped it off at the shop on a Sat afternoon and Tue morning I get a call from Progressive telling me he cut a check and to call the shop and tell them what I want to do. I was shocked at how much they paid out. The shop and the adjuster had worked together before and that has to help when they trust each other.
