Ranger Trailer Swing away tongue pin (New Style)

The original swing away tongue locking pin has finally refused to open up. After several attempts with every aerosol sprays known to man including WD-40, Kroil, Screw Loose etc. the key broke inside the barrel. Called Ranger to see about a new replacement before I cut the old one off. FYI The old locking pin has been replaced with a newer T-handle cattle gate type with cable & retaining pin due to the problems with the older locking style rusting up inside the tumblers. Reasonably priced too $18.58 plus s&h.

I took my pin out (non locking) drilled out the hole for the hitch pin and put small master lock on it. If the lock rusts then I just replace it.

Can you not squirt some 3 n 1 oil to prevent rust happening?
