Helix 12 SI G1 vs Helix 10 SI Mega G2

Looking to upgrade from a 998c on console. With the great deals on the G1 units, which would you choose? Bigger screen or Mega? Mega cost about $350 more. I have a Helix 10 DI G1 on bow. Thanks

I have both Gen 1 & 2 of the 12.1".

I prefer the H12MSI hands down.

Almost got a H10MSI - really glad I got the 12MSI though....

i have the same question, im considering a 12 Gen 1, but Robert i dont understand your preference? Obviously a 12 Mega is ideal, but he was asking helix 12 G1 versus helix 10 G2 Mega. Robert since you have both, do you notice a huge difference in 12 Mega vs 12 non mega? is it worth $1000?

"worth it" is always a subjective decision. Is different for everyone.

The Mr. B said, "worth it" is subjective.

I can tell the shape of fish better with MSI than using 455 or 800 kHz and the Chirp surely helps discern targets better too.

I have a heck of a time trying to get a H10MSI and went with the 12MSI much earlier in the season - now I am tossing around the idea of a 10MSI to eithe replace my 859DI or maybe peddling off one of the G1 12's to take it's place.

IDC what brand you are running or can choose from all the current crop - NOTHING touches the MSI and one of the Panoptix guys even called the MSI units a "home run".

The detail is incredible, even when comparing a G1 in any screen size - even @ 800 kHz - but it's got limitations for depth & distance.

Even if I run a G1 H12 @ 800 kHz it's nowhere the same clarity and detail.

Coontail looks like coontail, trees look like trees....
Root balls & boats, docks - bridge pilings...

It's all super detailed.









The G1's just won't do this .. . . . .
