Surely you know which sonar technology you purchased.

There is the Sonar version---Helix 9 Sonar GPS.
There is the Down Imaging version---Helix 9 DI GPS.
There is the Side Imaging version---Helix 9 SI GPS.

    OK

    The shoot-thru is the XP 9 20

The Y cable is either the discontinued AS SIDB Y or the current MSIDB Y. The current one has the extra circuit for the Down Imaging crystal in a MEGA SI transducer.

You do not change any unit settings for that transducer setup. Nothing changes except the location of the 2D source.

So I can pick up either cable?

So basically, plug in both ducers (HDSI and XP 9 20), make sure the HDSI is selected as transducer source, and the unit will automatically recognize the 2d source?

Sort of. There is no "automatically".
There is no electrical connection in the Y cable SI side for the 2D crystal in the SI transducer.
The electrical connection for 2D is the shoot-thru.
The plug and pins of the Y cable that connects to the display is the same as the SI transducer by itself.

I understand. So I guess im asking after I make connections with the Y cable, will I need to do anything in the unit itself (select transducers)..
