Lake Fork Sealy Big Bass Slash
If you made it to the event you know it was as good as Bob Sealy normally puts on. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere of his tournaments. We all have preferences when it comes to these big hourly event. Some avoid them, and some gravitate to them. And I can appreciate reasons from both sides.
We have made a point to try to fish this series of tournaments when it comes to lake Fork for the past 20 years. I have met some really good people in doing so.
This year I believe that the total registry of participants was over 2300. This was not the biggest attendance Lake Fork has seen for this tournament, but it was a busy lake. The hourly weigh-ins kept the lake boat lanes active.
A lot of people reported that they were catching 1 to 5 fish a day. But always the wrong size fish. The weather was about as good as I can recall in my 20 years of doing this series. 3 days of light winds (5- 10 mph) temps in the upper 80's, and blue bird skies.
The winner was James Clark from Denham Springs LA. He brought in a 10.57 lb fish.
Personally we found the fishing to be great. I caught 30 fish over the entire tournament. The group that camps out at my place for the tournament came away with $2500 in winnings. We all got a check. Together we caught upwards of 60 fish. Mostly on spinner baits, buzz baits, and some soft plastics fished around tightly matted grass towers in 3 feet of water. We caught fish from dinks to 23.5" long.
