    Question Saving waypoints

Getting ready to do software and basemap update on Helix 9 & 10. I understand I should restore the defaults before the update. I assume this will erase any waypoints also. How do I save waypoints for re-installation after the update ? Thanks.

Restore Defaults does not affect the waypoint library memory. It just returns the settings back to the original factory settings.
Even if you don't do a Restore Defaults, the update software will do it anyway.
After you do the software update, do another Restore Defaults.

It is good idea to Export the data occasionally and store them on a memory device or on your computer.

To Export your waypoint library, put a blank formatted memory card (32GB or less) in one of the card readers:
Push the Menu button twice to get the main menu
Go to the Nav tab and then down to Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks, then select that.
Then to up to Options and choose Select All and ...
Then choose Export, just takes a few seconds.

The waypoints will be copied to the memory card and will be in a MATRIX folder that HumminbirdPC and the Helix units will recognize to copy them.
