    99 MFI trailer suspension rebuild

99 Tr21 with original MFI tandem trailer. After hearing numerous horror stories about the single leaf springs breaking and leaving guys stranded on the side of the road, as well as the constant squeeking with every move, I decided to rebuild the original suspension. New triple leaf springs, equalizers, bushings and greasable wet bolts. Nothing had ever been apart, impact wrench, PB Blaster and a big fu%#ing hammer a must. You can see in the photos the bushings were shot and the bolts had started hogging out the holes in the equilizer. About a 4 hour job with the boat off the trailer. Replaced the plastic bushings with bronze.

Ordered online. Combination of e-trailer and trailer parts superstore, and R&P carriage on eBay. New 3 leaf springs, equalizers, wet bolt kit with bronze bushings and shackles. A little over $200.00 for everything shipped to the house. Should be good for another 18 years

Savage, is this the exact kit (model # 13 143) that you used for your trailer? Also, I am thinking of replacing my leaf springs also. Do you know what size they are? I think they are 26" 3 leaf springs - eye to eye. My trailer is a 2007 Marine Master for a Tr 21XHP.

I have a MFI dated August 1999 for my 2000 Triton Tr21. Will the Dexter come with everything to finish the job? I'd rather pay a little extra than chase parts.

Savage - Can this be done with boat on trailer or should the boat be off?

Yes you can do it with the boat on the trailer. A couple of floor jacks will help.

Curious, could you post/share the parts numbers that you sourced? 200 compared to 344 for just the Dexter kit sounds like a great deal. Curious which leaf springs you went with. My 99 mfi is a squeaky sob!
