Thanks for the replies guys! I went and rented a Ruger, rock island, and the Desert eagle at a range. I walked out with a Desert eagle 1911C in stainless. I just loved the way it shot, felt and looked. I got two alien gear holsters for it in the mail. This will be one of my carry weapons but plan on shooting it often. I wish I can get my pics to work, it is a nice looking gun.

    Just a thought....

If you ever want to check out some KILLER leather, there's a guy up in N. GA, Ryan Grizzle that makes some really nice holsters, belts, etc. His site is rgrizzleleather.

A few years ago he'd do full custom work and made an amazing elephant, ostrich, calf leather, and suede paddle holster (and matching mag pouch) for my daughters Kimber Super Carry Pro 1911. Last I spoke with him he wasn't doing full custom anymore, but he still builds some really nice stuff, and uses exotic leathers as well.

Being you live in Texas go take the tour at STI there are great people. I just showed up one day to ask some questions and got the full tour. Needless to say I also bought from them too. They are in Georgetown if I remember correctly.

I only own one, I have steel CZs but wanted a 1911 but didn't want to break the bank on my first one in case I didn't like it. Went with the Ruger and has not missed a beat even during break in, it did throw brass a country mile with 230 gr ball so I just got a spring kit and taylor it to toss the brass 5-6 depending on the load I'm shooting which anymore is 5.0 gr of HP38 and a 200 gr SWC
