    how to properly winterize engines

I have twin 2008 Mercury Optimax 225 engines. I looking over my notes from the mechanic, and the process doesn't seem to difficult nor different from my old engine. Some sights I've seen say to run antifreeze through then engines, others simply use a fogging solution that us added to the gas tanks and run through until thick grey smoke appears, approx 15 min or so. Then the basics like changing lower unit oil, checking plugs, greasing nipples etc. Is there more too it than this??

Looking to really learn the ins and outs of my new engines, and save cash in the process.

    Thanks,

    Neil

Your owner's manual is your friend. If you have lost it, you can find 'em online at merc's web page.

If you have a water pressure gauge, take it off and bring it inside...BF

There's a FAQ at the top of the 3L forum (what your engine is) with LOTS of useful information for Optimax engines and there's an excellent one addressing your specific question:
