    Unvented T1 on an OX66

    My goal is to find a setup where I'm turning max 5800-6000 RPMs. Currently turning a cupped Tempest Plus 27 over 6000. Yamaha OX66 225 on a Bullet 21XDC. Going to a larger diameter 27P T1. It's unvented but I will have PVS installed if necessary. Any opinions or potential problems with trying this setup?

    What rpm and speed are you getting with the tempest. How much over 6000? If it's slipping badly, then you can't use it to compare how the t1 will run. If it's running good with low slip #'s and you are at 6200, then a lil more diameter is not gonna drop it 2-400 rpms. 1" of pitch will change it 200 rpms.

    If it's slipping badly, a balance and blueprint by Croxton will improve the slip #'s gaining speed and get your rpms where you want them.

    Slip is 16-17% 1.81 gears 6200 and 75

    Yeah, that's not good. I came up with 18%. It should be in the 10% range at least. That would knock a couple hundred off the rpms and gain you 3-4 mph.

    If you already have the t1, try it. It should run better than what that tempest is running. It needs help. A lil Croxton mojo on it tho' would do it right.

    Thank you for your input. The T1 is on the way. I'll most likely send the Tempest to Mark and post a respectable prop slip % soon.

    Just give him all your pertinent set up and current performance info and tell him what you want and he will make it happen. Let us know how the t1 runs.
