Potomac grasses and Spatter dock

Trying to understand the growth of grasses, kinds of grasses and the pads. I've looked on several sites including MD state but not really the answer I was looking for. An example is Marsh island was covered in pads last year but none this year. I would think the roots are there forever but what happened? There was eel grasses in places last year and not there this year at the same time frame. only been fishing the river a couple of years so working on my learning curve.

Your welcome. Vegetation in our watershed change position and propagate differently each year and throughout the year. Makes it interesting.
