Ranger RT198 with 150 E TEC G2 - Questions on G2

All,

I just sealed a deal (handshake at this point) on a 2018 RT198 W/ an E TEC G2, following a very impressive test ride. The dealer that I am buying from (West Virginia) sells a lot of E TECs and speaks very highly. It comes w/ a 10 year warranty as well. Up here in PA, I only know of a couple of them on the water, most likely because there are not many local dealers.

So, I'm looking for some feedback from the E TEC owners / users out there, both Pros and Cons. I'm sure hoping I hear some good positive stuff, because I am impressed with it, albeit it was only for an hour...

Well, they are within 2 hours, so that's not horrible. Thing is, there are no reputable Merc or Yammie Dealers or mechanics local either, so i guess i go w/ the motor w/ the best warranty...?

I have had to temper my internet information gathering, since people are waaay more happy to post up the negative vs positive results with any product. Get a good warranty and enjoy!

FWIW we have 2 150s on a Pro Staff ski team boat and the motors have 110 hours and ZERO codes and these were early build 150s. Super quiet and strong out of the hole.

For whatever it’s worth, I’ve been running a 250HO G2 for 2-1/2 years all year long. I had one software update while it was in the shop for Boat repair and the dealer had checked it on their own. Changed to a 4blade prop and just love it. Just ordered another aluminum Ranger as a 2nd boat and I opted for the G2 again, this time a 150 HO

I have a 225 HO G2 on a Ranger Z119. I live in west Virginia reasonably close to you so I would say I got mine from the same dealer. Great guys to work with! As for the engine, absolutely awesome! I have fished numerous tournaments with it with outstanding performance. Out of the hole quick and to top speed quick!You wont be disappointed!

I'm impressed with the G2 and have received many compliments on the water, and the dog-gone rig catches fish too, value added...!
