    Jack plate transducer placement

Hey guys I'm at the last stage of my electronics upgrade and am trying to decide if I should mount my SI transducer on the side of my jack place or underneath it. I've seen it done both ways but not sure if one way is better than the other. I will have the tranducer protected by a transducer shield if that factors into it. I have a 2004 Nitro NX 882 with a Slide Master jack plate. Any pics or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Under it....you can get an echo interference if you mount it to the side and it isn't low enough. I had that issue on the one I mounted to the side of my jackplate even after adding spacer blocks to lower it.

Thanks for the reply. I also have the L bracket from Transducer Shield and Saver which will keep the transducer under the jack plate. Do you think it would still need to be lower? If so, what do you mount the transducer to in order to lower it?
