I will probably forget some and update this as I remember more...I have tested a lot of props over the past 3 years.

    The Good

    29p Hydro XOB dual pvs
    28p Hydro XOB dual pvs
    27p Hydro XOB dual pvs
30p Bravo I dual pvs worked by Robbie
    30p Promax
    30p BC Performer 3
    28p BC Performer 4
    28p Promax dual pvs

The Bad (not really that bad)

    27p Lab Finished Bravo 1 4 1in vent holes
    28p Worked Chopper II
27p Turbo FXP with 4 pvs holes
28p Powertech Razor 4 dual pvs

    The Ugly

28p Hydro XOB cut down to 14.5 diameter, no flare, 4 1in vent holes
29p Hydro Intimidator stern drive prop cut down to 14.75 diameter
    27p Ally cut Trophy
    29p Signature 4
    28p BC Performer 3
28p Turbo TXP OT-4 no vent holes

Lessons learned. Pay attention to what works for others, but there is no replacement for testing different props on your boat with you driving it. Every set up and driver is different. Also, no two props are equal, even if they are the same make, model, and pitch. I have come across runners and turds. Just because you tried a prop once and didn't like it, don't pass up the opportunity to try another one because you never know what your gonna get (said in your best Forrest Gump voice).

You must have a fishing load. Solo and light that 27 should be good for 86/86.5

I decided years ago there is no substitute for testing. Even though the formulas are correct prop building is not an exact science.
Saw a well known boat racer years ago add some cup with a hammer while holding the blade against the ball on a pickup.

26 Powertech TR04 (trophy copy with out pvs) ran decent to 81.5
27 Powertech RKR4 took 20 seconds to plane out needed way more ventilation and only ran 81.2
28 Mazco RE4 amazing holeshot but lacked top end 81 ish
27 XOB good running all round with a top speed of 85.5
28 Bravo XS best combo that I ran 86.9 loaded

    250 Sport XS
    25 OT4 rocket to 81
28 Bravo XS great heavy load prop runs 85.4 solo and 82.9 with 4 on the limiter very quickly
28 Promax ran really well with 2 in the boat heavy to 85.5
28/29 XOB worked well with 2 and heavy boat to 86.7
29 XOB ran decent all round solo to 89.9
30 Bravo XS (worked for another boat) decent prop with 2 heavy loaded ran 85.7
28 P3 BC to much ventilation on holeshot with my load and hit the limiter at 84.7 but very rough water on that test day
30 Pro ET great running prop to 91.1
32 P4 ET cut sluggish holeshot but ran 92.2
32 Pro ET see above lol ran 92.2 as well
30 XOB slow accelerating but hit the limiter at 92.5 solo loaded
30 Promax best all round for my set up runs 92.0 solo loaded

Good to know. I just bought a 28 promax from Lee. I have only done acceleration testing so far. It is 2+ seconds faster to 85 that an XOB but I didn't have enough protected water to try and stretch it out. Most I saw on my gps was 86 and change. Although the acceleration app showed 88.2 I feel it was a glitch as there was a 86 the second before and the second after

Don't you live in St Louis? Man you got 1200 miles of river to run that boat in. That should be enough room.

It was really windy. I had a 1/2 mile-3/4 mile stretch in a bend behind an island that was protected from the wind

On another note, I did like you it ran in the small whitecaps. The wind was coming directly up the river against the current

AllyFishing I'm running 1.62 gears. I don't know if my prop has had any work on it or not to be honest. But it has almost as good a hole shot as my 26 XOB had. Loaded right now I have a little cavitation on hole shot, not bad really, but it is there. On all the XOB's I have had there was no cavitation at all.

I ran the promax with some other boats many drag time runs.

I still only maxed out at 86 on most runs. We where making 1/1.5 miles race/passes so I kept the motor 1/4" above only to attempt to keep the prop off the limiter and pop the bow sooner than later and tried to keep the boat 1/2 bumps of the trim from the limiter but it still beeped on a few passes.

One thing I did notice with the Promax is on one particular river turn in the past have been able to keep the hydors full WOT and trim, the promax wanted to left the rear slide through the turn a bit, where the XOB held rock steady. The hydrstreams had to slow down off the pad so its not like its was a super gentle turn.

Ok, 27P TXP on 1.62 gears and it does not bog on hole shot tells me it must be stock. Mine is a 27P also and I know it should have jumped out of the hole on mine with 1.62 but it bogged down so bad it barely made it on plane but once it did it took right off so I know it was worked. That's ok cuz I'm getting a second set of holes drilled and it seems fine once on plane.

You are correct about he XOB's no cavitation just take right off. Todd has that prop nailed down perfectly. I may get a bit of the flare trimmed like Tim P did but have not had the chance yet. I'm at hartwell for the nest 2 weeks so I hope my props get to me over that time period so I can run the piss out of them

Do you know if this is about the same as Tim Powell's boat and trailer?

I assume that is with motor gear? Fuel or no fuel? Power pole or no powerpoles?
