Video of some guys caught in storm

Can't say I'd be running into the swell like they did to take water over the bow but I don't think he was paying attention to the conditions at the moment rather they were focused on trying to film what had just happened. Grabbing a pontoon is not something to do with lightening around. He admits that was the wrong direction to point your sled in a storm.

My dad and I fished the CAST For Kids ProAm in Waco this past July. We got caught in a similar situation that morning and rode it out under the Hwy 6 bridge. Saw it coming and tried to get to the marina but it literally, blew up in a matter of 10mins or so to conditions very similar to that video. I've been boating 40+yrs and grew up on the gulf coast. By far, that was the worst storm I'd ever been in on the water. We got pounded by rain, 50mph gusts and waves just like the video. Thank goodness for bilge pumps! My 203 rode it well but I certainly don't want to get caught in something like that ever again.

I've been on Lake Michigan my entire life and it's hard to explain to someone what these storms can do to the water in very little time. It's frightening how rough such a massive body of water can get in such a short period of time. I've literally seen it go from flat like glass to over 6-7ft in less than 1/2 hour. Respect, that is what people who get into trouble on these bodies of water lack and when you don't respect the lake it can get you into serious trouble. Glad they are OK!

Kind of surprised they docked that boat with the stern facing the incoming waves.

I've seen a couple boats go down because the boat was put into the slip or dock with the stern facing out towards the direction big waves could be coming from in a storm. Also, after years of fishing Lake Ozarks, anytime I slipped a boat where the dock I was in faced the main lake or even in a direction that large cruiser swells could roll in I always backed in so the bow would take the waves/rollers on first.

They went from the doc to the woods, to the porch, back to the boat, in the water between the boat and dock, back in the boat and out to sea, in the storm, with no PFD. Then he says to always wear your life jacket.

They need to invest in some rain gear
i live in Michigan. It was a thunderstorm and they were on a inland
lake. You put the rain gear on and drive back to the ramp
load the boat and wait it out in the truck or grab lunch

They were in 1 to 2 footers
run the bilge and you don't have to run at full thoutle
a lot of drama for nothing.
if your afraid of getting wet
    watch the weather channel

Heh! These Cats have nine lives.

    Let me see. . .

Saw the lightning in the clouds, but didn't go in right away.
Tied the boat, to a metal dock, stern first into the storm/lake.
Grabbed onto a metal pontoon boat tied to a metal dock.
Then decided the metal dock was to dangerous so we ran into the back yard of some stranger
to hide from 60+ mph winds and lightning under some really tall trees!
