I have a 2004 201 pro xl with a 2004 mercury 250 efi. Can other 201 owners post there engie height and setup please.. I am running a 3 blade prop and 24 volt trolling motor and can not get the chine walk under control. So far i had it at 72 and still have over half throttle left.. I fell like with no chine walk i can get really close to 80.. I love the ride and the way this boat fishes but man this thing will chine walk you to death..lol Thanks for any and all help..

You going to need more info for any one to help you . Like if you have a jack plate & size and where is the height is to pad and prop and pitch size?

That year boat most run the max of a 225 HP motor . i bet it is going to be a running when set-up right and going to take some seat time .

Motor is probably too low, which is causing it to walk like crazy. Mine was like this before.

Check the leveler to pad . then start at 3.50 below pad and rise a 1/4 inch at a time until you loose water pressure or speed then drop it down a 1/ 4 and lock it in .
Also a good prop will help also . Like a Tempest plus with a 250 motor i am going to say 27 p . The Bravo 1 props are a good 4 blade .
I have a 2004 225 EFI with the down draft intake like your motor . They are close 2 the ProXs motor for power .

My last 201 had a 250 Yamaha vmax 3.1L. I ran a 12" jackplate with dual talons, 4 batteries and ptp was set at 2 3/4 below pad. 2 person load 5700 rpms at 74 mph. Solo light load 77 mph. Running 26p trophy prop

I think 27 would work great.

I would run a 26 fury or 26p fury 4 if you carry heavy load

You need more setback to help nock the chine walk out plus his will allow the prop to run in cleaner water and be more efficient. I ran a 12" plate and boy did it make a difference. With the 6 in slidemaster min would walk like crazy at 72 mph and you really had to drive her over 75 mph. when I went to the 12 in plate and ran a 25p fury I could run 75 mph and drive it one handed. It eliminated all the chine in my boat. Just an idea you might want to look into.

That hull chine walks. You just need seat time and it will be second nature to drive it and not try to control it. Once it starts walking, it's hard to catch back up to it.
    Setup does help.
3" below and a 27" prop with 8-10" plate will give you a decent all
around setup that will be driveable.
