Anyone running a 2017 zx225? Just curious what to expect out of it, I am still in break in but about 60mph is all it will do with to big boys and a half tank of gas and fishing gear. Hope it will pick up after the break in.

You should see high 60s at minimum.
Just broke mine in. It will run 70 with just me. im turning about 6700-6800 RPM's though and that concerns me a little.

I have a lot of gear in mine, it runs 68 mph at 5800 rpm with a full tank
Mine didn't change at all after break-in. One of my fastest runs was with about 4 hrs on the motor. I had to change props to gain more mph.
If you are running that heavy of a load, you should change props. I would try a 24p Razor-4XL. I wouldn't run over 6k rpms though.

The tachs are not accurate IMO. Mine shows me deep in the red (7k) when I run WOT so I was backing off to get the RPM's around 6,000 and obviously was running a lot slower to do that. I added a Yamaha NMEA 2000 interface to my HDS and it shows me topping out around 6100 when I'm WOT. I top out around 75 for my 250 when conditions are just right, probably 72-73 in virtually any condition with any load. I think 70 for a 225 sounds about right if you guys are both bigger dudes.
I have had my 225 for a month now. I get 70 at 6000. It is VERY weight sensitive.
I recently experienced the same issue wth a '17 ZX225. I could only reach 65 mph for a short period and had to back off because I thought I was running the RPMs too high according to the tach. When I took the boat back to the dealer for the 20-hour service they found that the tach was set to the wrong motor. They made the adjustment for the correct motor through some kind of switch on the back of the tach. Took it out for a quick test drive after this and found that the tach is much more stable now and it holds rock solid at 5800 RPMs running 69 mph with two people in the boat.
I'm still confused on one issue though. The dealer hooked the motor up to their computer to show me the RPM bands that my 20 hours were ran in. It showed that I logged absolutely zero time between 5-6k RPMs. Not sure how that's possible if I've run up to 65 mph. I guess it's possible that the tach being set up wrong could have caused this. Seems like the motor would log the actual RPMs correctly though.
My 17 runs pretty much 70 full load with 2 poles @ 6krpm. I did at one point in time get it to 74, not sure what the difference is.
Cjc, do you have the zx225? I would be interested to know what your setup is if so.

There is no engines that run that high rpm except modified racing engines your tack is off
Hummmmm...this tach issue is a new bird to me...and do not think not cannot be a systemic problem like that soft floor spot...
I touched 73mph three times with half tank just me/no tackle in Feb 2016 with my new ZX225 at end of break-in...
with 44 gallons and full T load I get 67-68 most days...
***IMHO unless its a full tank and tackle, its really no help as far as speed/prop selection***
Mine is stock 25 T1 and 7 dots on plate...read 7.5 dots may be better and a tad faster...
not sure what prop is fastest with heavy load...
would like to see a dozen 2016-2018 ZX225 owners post prop/speed/load...
