    chine walk

i have a 1999 javelin renegade 18, can run 64-66 full loaded with no walk,
running 5400 rpm, 150 hp johnson still have some trim left if i move the motor a little higher on the transom will that help the walk i was told it would have plenty of water pressure right now or should i break down and go for a jack plate ?

    Re: chine walk (pete 1)

I don't understand your question. Are you getting chine walk or not?
Unless you just want to spend the money and take the time to have to get the set-up right, if you are really getting mid 60's from that boat with no jackplate, I would leave it alone.

If you are getting some walk, yes raising it on the transom may help..

    Re: (pete 1)

When you get a boat set-up properly, you should not have to trim up all the way. About 3/4 trim should be about perfect. Most of us cannot get by with leaving it down there and have to trim higher.
Why can you not trim up anymore? Are your rpm's too high, or it starts to chine? If it is chining, then learn when it is starting to chine and learn to take control of the boat before it gets too bad and you may have some speed there to gain. Mine starts to chine at 72-73 and would flip if I did not take control and drive it. I can still drive it on into the upper 70's beyond where the chine starts, but not by holding the steering straight. i have to use small left hand steering corrections to counteract the chine.
Look @ the chinewalk post in Set-up's by Todd. There are some very good descriptions in a couple chinewalk posts that describe what is happening and what to do to control it before it controls you. http://www.bbcboards.net...36443
