    Trying to understand heading sensor

I have an onix 10 , 360, and new solex. Do i need an external hs? If so can i integrate a lgs4000 that i already have to us as an external antennae/hs.

I would install the HS GPS that came with the 360. I don't think the LGS4000 has the HS compass, but not real familiar with it.

The HS GPS will allow you to display the waypoints on the 360 screen as well as give you the boat heading even sitting still.

All 360's come with a AS GPS HS antenna unless you purchased a used one and the previous owner kept it.

Yes, he kept it. How does the AS GPS HS tie into system? Ethernet cord?

No, it attaches directly to a unit.
It connects directly to the COMM port on the back of a Helix/number series and needs an adapter for the ONIX and SOLIX (AS GPS NMEA).

ONIX and SOLIX use the HS functionality separately from the GPS functionality. This means you can share HS functionality across the ONIX/SOLIX Network and configure completely separate from the GPS the units are using (internal or external).

This is a benefit of the ONIX/SOLIX product line.

you can not use 2 separate heading sensors with the solix/onix though. ask me how I know. When you change the heading source on one unit it also changes it on the other

Will the ultrex hs and the GPS hs work independently?

According to humminbird, the Solix doesn't need a heading sensor. It processes heading automatically.
