Military landing craft
Why are they not used in floods like Harvey for rescue.
-
Probably to large to maneuver in the small areas
Things are big
-
1. The open style from WWII don't exist in any numbers anymore.
2. AAVs are limited in numbers and located in only a few places.
3. LCACs and AAVs are too big and destructive to be used in rescue.
4. Even though the operation of AAVs is often practiced, there is the ever present danger of a system failure in waters that haven been extensively reconnoitered which would cause further dangers to the occupants. AAVs kill when they sink.
TLDR ultimately they would cause more problems than they would solve.
