Good question. I seldom use them, but when I do and get bit, it's because I hit 'em on the head with it. Blind luck and sharp hooks are important factors for me!

I like the KVD 200 and lucky craft staysee. Those are my 2 favorites I would say.

    110. Pretty much the only model I own now. I still have one or two shadraps and a smaller pointer but they seldom get thrown.

I throw 110 sized ones basically exclusively. I can't afford to be risking Visions to the pike around here, so throw board sponsor KDS Sporting Goods ones. They're like $4 a piece and work great. They even come with high quality hooks. I also throw the Shadow Rap Deep when I need a deep diver. Have to replace hooks on them though - the first pike or decent smallmouth that gets hold of it bends out the stock hooks on them.

I really need to invest in some smaller ones just to see. I think there are times I catch much less than I should on them or end up having to put it down altogether because the profile is too big...particularly on the river up here where we have shad, but they tend to be really small.

Water temp plays a factor and LMB vs SMB. I love to throw a jerkbait - one of my favorite techniques.

I think part of it also has to do with cost and how consistent of a bait you want as I did a test of 60 baits last year to see how they floated in 53 degree water and it was amazing at the variation (even among exact same model, brand, color).

Ones that are mentioned are some of the better options. If I could only have 1 it would probably be a staysee.
Where are the BIG ones? When are we going?

I don't think this is hijacking...it's certainly not my intent! Anybody try the new Rapala RipStop yet? I mentioned I was thinking about a smaller profile and these have really caught my eye lately. The videos that Rapala provides show a really nice action to them, but would like to hear some first hand experience with them.

Yes, pretty good bait but prefer a few others over it.

hard jerkbaits = Pointer 75 or slender Pointer 97 (Pointer 100 during later fall period)

soft jerkbaits = smaller sized Caffeine Shad

I suck with jerk baits but the Shadow Rap Shad over grass is a kick I found out! Floats up slowly

Up on rainy lake the smallies sure like the rc stix and those are much cheaper then throwing a megabass to the pike
