I have a local guy that builds a few rods for people and he wants $30 to repair it. The rod new is right at $75. I'll have to find someone else. I'm located in Central KY. Does anyone know of a place that I could take it?

PM Jeremy Reed (KYLAKELUNKER) I think he's by KY lake. I think he charges like $10 or $12 for a guide.

Wow! $30 seem a bit excessive for something that takes about 15 minutes total to replace. As other have stated about $10 seems a fair price.

It depends on the guide he quoted. I have some guides that alone cost $30. Some builders quote prices like this just to chase the work away. They don't want hassled with repairs.

I assumed that was the price for labor not labor+guide but I get your point.

What part of KY are you in? I'm in Louisville and the cost would be 10+guide so arouund $12-13. If you are around KY lake area Jeremy Reed as mentioned above. Don't really know anybody else on the other half of the state that does repairs.

If you're in Bardstown, Ryan will be your closest. You also have Lynn Williams in Owensboro. I sit between KY and Barkley Lakes and do a couple shops' repair work. I'll be headed to Frankfort twice in October for work and could also grab it on my first trip through and drop it off on the second trip if you're not in a hurry.

    $10 and guide costs
