    Thumbs Up Update on Defective Helix

    Update on the new Helix 10 Mega I sent in last week. HB customer service stated the main board in the unit was bad from the factory and they replaced it. They also updated the software and is due to ship out today. I was very unhappy about a brand new unit out of the box being defective but I am very pleased and satisfied with the customer service and support I received from HB.

    Well I spoke too soon. Fedex delivered unit about 45 minutes ago, plugged the unit in and its doing the same thing. Switched console unit again to the bow and vice versa same issue. There is no issue with the wiring, battery, or transducer. Called HB, "send it back".

    My new Helix 10 mega is doing the same thing you described in your original post.
    I have done all the isolation tests as well - it is the unit.
    Even does it in simulation mode.
    The images are not crisp and all the lines/text are wavy because of moving pixels like you describe.
    I will be calling HB tomorrow.

    It took me sending it on twice to get fixed. Got it back the second time and it was fine, I haven't had an issue yet.

    It's usually 3 day of less in-house, and the ship time.

    Last time I had a unit in, it was 8 days IIRC (including W/E) - I am in MI.

    Quick update for posterity
    Unit was repaired and received back - Such fast turnaround
    "Repair/Replace Circuit Board"
    Works great now!

    When you refer to 'wavy' does it look like this? My Helix 10 Mega went in for service for a loss of side imaging on the starboard side back in July and when I got it back it now has these 'wavy' lines - the circuit board was replaced. I will be sending it back when the season is over.

    They didn't test it before sending it back? That is not very good service. The repair person needs an butt chewing!

    Thanks, I will send it back after the season is over. Not sure why they didn't test them after replacing the circuit boards on before sending them out. (either of them)
