    Question Painted Boat Letters

I just recently bought a used bass boat. The boat has the state boat letters / license numbers painted on the hull. I've tried some Lacquer thinner on it and I believe I rubbed half of my elbow off and only removed a part of the painted outline of one number ! Does anyone have any suggestions ? I don't want to ruin the gel coat on it. Thanks In Advance. Tommy

P.S. It has Alabama letters on it !

If all else fails sand paper and a buffer will work. I've done it to a few big salt water boats.

When I do vinyl lettering and have to remove painted lettering I use oven cleaner. I spray it on let it sit for a minute or two and then work it. It might take a couple of tries but should do the trick.

Yep easy off should do it. It's what I used on the Harley's when I wanted to remove paint that I ended up not liking. Good luck

Well, Here are the Results !! "Easy Off" - 1, Lacquer Thinner -0 The Easy Off worked like a Champ. I sprayed it on and let it set for a couple minutes, then , WHAM, it came off easy.. I wiped it down, put a little marine wax on it and now waiting on new "sticker" letters .. Thanks For The Replies.. Tommy
