I have a Diamondback AR and need a scope. I have read about a red dot scope and am intrigued.

Looking forward to your thoughts/ideas.

Can I do it for $300-$350?

Check out Vortex Optics, they're pretty popular and affordable. I don't have one on my AR but need an optic and have been considering this brand as I don't need a $500-$1,000 optic for what I do.

Aimpoint pro if you are going red dot sights. Can be found for right at 400.00 if you look around.
Vortex has a few that will fall in your budget as well.

Both the Vortex strike eagle or leupold mark ar would be good choices. 1-6x power so you can shoot short or longer distance. I got mine with a illuminated reticle. Great optics great price and great warranty

I have 10 armalites and 3 have lucid red dots and the others are mixed between iron sights and a leouplod red dot. I'll never buy anything but a lucid from now going forward. Hands down the best operating and functional optic I've ever used.

Look at the Burris MTAC and you can get it with a fast fire on top, close or far.

I think that the 1-6 options will suit your needs really well. There are several brands out there depending on how much money you have to spend.
