It would be great if you could get a national license but I don't think most states would go for it. States make a ton of money on non-resident licenses and as it was said before it would be a red tape nightmare with the different states wanting what they think would be their fair share of the fee.

it will never happen. Federal Sportfish Restoration grant funds are distributed based on a formula that uses the states land area and the number of paid license holders.

I have a Kansas life time hunting and fishing license I bought 21 years ago, sure was cheaper! Now that I live in TX I will buy a life time fishing which I think is around $600. Buy once cry once but I never have to worry about it anymore. It is going to take me a long time to just fish the TX lakes I want to a time or two before I will feel the need to travel out of state.

I'd buy TN lifetime if it was 600 in a heartbeat. Try 2k maybe more now. Fortunately my daughter is covered for life because we bought when she was a baby.

I only purchase an Alabama license every year and I, for one, would hate to see a "federal" fishing license. It would be prohibitively expensive and in all my 62 years, I've never seen anything controlled by the federal government that wasn't totally screwed up.

Nah, My state does a really good job of using conservation money lets keep the feds out of it.

It would have to be done by multi-state partnerships with an administrator vs the federal govt. I agree that wouldn't be good

Alabama used to be from date of purchase on fishing license but changed a few years ago to the same as the hunting license...

Agree. I would rather just buy a license in my state or any state and KNOW that state is where my money went. They may not spend it on what I want but I know they got it. You start passing that money through more government hands and it equals less funds all around by the time it gets where it's supposed to go

WI, MN, IL, IA, MI, OK, AL, MO, GA, FL, TN, KY, Ontario...these are most of them from the past few years...how many do touring pros need each year?!

WI, MN, MI is pretty yearly as well as a southern state or two.

I quit buying fishing or hunting license as I now identify as a Native American. Going to Alaska next year so I'll identify as an Eskimo then.

Only GA right now as that is all I need for the waters I fish.

I have a lifetime NC license and buy a 1 year VA license if I plan to fish anywhere that requires I have one (Lakes on state line reciprocate).
