I have yet to pull the trigger on what to do. So many options and I want to make sure to do it right on the first time.

I installed a MK Ultrex on the boat. It has the iPilot, spot lock and the new GPS, Bluetooth heading sensor. I know that HB are all compatible with MK motors but a converter cable is also available to use the trolling motor built in transducer. I thought that I would need a separate transducer mounted on the troll motor so I could get side imagining. I rigged my Terrova this way but I don't see a way to do it to the Ultrex.

I really want to use Garmin so now my question is using the built in MK and then convert it to the Garmin in the front through the cable MK sells and then connect my console graph with SI to the front so I can share way points? Is that possible. I really want good imagining at the front for obvious reasons.

1042 XSV is what I've settled in on for the console and then putting my 93DV at the front.

I feel you have to be a specialist to get the best bang for your buck.

You'll like the 1042. First class unit. I would not try to use the xd in the trolling motor. There's just no comparison to these generic transducers and a Garmin chirp transducer. I'd suggest also not using the 93DV. I'd get another unit capable of ethernet networking. The 1042 has 2 network ports. So you have the option of putting Panoptix on it and sharing everything on it with whatever you put up front if you get a network unit. If the price of all this gets in the way, I'd still try to do it even if I had to try and get a second unit off ebay used. Networking, CHIRP and panoptix compatible will have some staying power on your boat.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

    Todd,

    I ordered my Garmin today.

I went with the 1042 XSV
    GT-15 in hull transducer
    GT30-TM transducer
    Jackplate mount
    Y cable
So it should all be here in the next few days. I would like to flush mount it on the console of my Z20. I also am going to need some direction or links to tips on mounting the through hull transducer. I think everything else would be close to the same as the others I have mounted. Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

The GT15 inhull is a tank-mount xducer (i.e., liquid bath). It does come with very good installation instructions, so follow those closely. I do prefer to use Permatex ultra black RTV to mount/seal the actual tank to the hull. Shout back here if you need additional assistance.

Hey Todd, I'm almost complete with the instillation of everything. I mounted the in hull with 3m marine grade silicone and after 24 hours it's still not set up. I know the cure is 7 days but I thought by now I could have at least mounted the xducer for a test. I will give it today and if tomorrow it's still soft I will use something else. I will send some pictures once complete. Been a nerve racking experience but fun. Thanks for all the help.

As I stated above, the Permatex Ultra Black works extremely well, and it's all I've ever used to mount the GT15 tanks. Cures to the touch in an hour or so, with full cure in 24 hours.

    Todd,

all complete and tested today. I was getting good bottom readings at 50mph depending how I had the motor trimmed. Amazing! Thanks for all the help and tips. Now I get to put it to test this weekend in the Michigan High Scho BASS State Championships on the Grand River/ Lake Michigan. It seems similar to my 93SV with some added options for dialing it in. Since I can't talk to the boys while they fish per HS BASS rules, I will have ample time to play with it. Thanks again, Jeff

Sounds good Jeff, now time to start enjoying your investment. Yes, the GT15 inhull works great at speed. I have had it in three different bass boats, and all read depth at 70 MPH.
