Helix 10 install on a older boat

Getting ready to install a Helix 10 at the bow and console. Reading a lot about running the wire straight to the batteries instead of the fuse panel. My boat is a 1994 Ranger 482 with obviously old wiring.. What gauge wire do you recommend? Does anyone has pics or instructions for running the wire to the battery. Any information is greatly appreciated.

The Installation Stickie at top of forum does have some good information but probably would want to exceed those recommendations on wire gauge to ensure good power to units. I used 8ga from battery to a separate dedicated fuse panel and then 8ga to each fish finder. According to specs that would be considered overkill but know some even using 6ga. Use a good marine grade quality wire. Fusing requirements may differ slightly with newer units. Of course it begins at the source....need a good battery with ample reserve capacity to support the electronics drawing power.
