    Helix 12 DI Gen 2

I am wore out chasing an interference issue on my Helix 12 DI gen 2. I have checked and replaced the fuse in the head, grounded the motor housing, connected the grounds together on the trolling batteries....when I step on the trolling motor pedal the depth jumps into the hundreds and will not level off until I release the pedal. I have the latest software uploaded. Fortrax 112. Help please!!!

Did you swap your transducer for the trolling motor version?

The XTM has more shielding and is less susceptible to interference ..... you could have swapped it free before opening the mounting package ... now you would have to buy the correct transducer for the trolling motor.

Have you separated all depth finder cables from trolling motor power cables.? Try disconnecting charger from cranking battery? How old is the trolling motor, can be worn brushes or water intrusion. Rfi can be caused by soooooo many things.

As Bob eluded to, the proper installation starts by using the proper transducer for the application.

There are two DI trolling motor pucks. They need no adapters or mounts, they come with stainless steel hose clamps.
Both have extra internal shielding to help with possible RFI issues.

XTM 9 DI 25 T is tuned to the same frequencies as the transom DI transducer--unit setting DI 455/200 kHz.
    XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T is tuned to 83/200 kHz 2D sonar--unit setting DI 83/200 kHz.

Do not dismiss this suggestion. It's easy to test and can be a culprit. On mine, both the + and - must be disconnected. 1 or the other did not help. I used a 2 wire automotive style quick disconnect to be able to unplug each time out.
