    250 proxs compressor failure

    I'm about 100% sure I lost a compressor. I remember reading on here one time
    about cleaning out something to get all the metal shavings out
    after a compressor is lost. Can someone refresh my memory?

    heres a video. I lost a coil a month ago. She was missing after I installed new coil, but not bad.
    Figured it was a fouled plug. I put new plugs in it and took it out and the miss got worse.
    Was driving it back and heard a pop. This is what she sounds like now.
    Weird thing is she purr's like a kitten at idle and as soon as I put it in gear she
    she sounds terrible.
    Guessing I have a either blown her up. Lost a compressor and maybe have a fuel rail issue and maybe another coil issue.

    Ya. Sometimes they start to fall apart before they completely fall apart! I wouldn't run it anymore till you find out.

    Actually it's more like 2 if done properly.

    Not true....Mine beat the entire rod bearing out and was still running. It just had a distinct bad sound on the way back to the ramp. Just depends if it actually seized up or not.

    Ok so let's say it is a compressor.
    What needs to be done to prevent metal fragments from affecting me down the road?

    Do not start it.
    Troubleshoot the problem to see what's actually wrong.

    Have your complete fuel system cleaned by European Marine (Integrity Injection) or Brucato's both are forum sponsors. This will also ID whether you have any questionable direct or side injectors.

    Could easily be $5K-$6K if you need air injectors, hoses and diaphragms.

    I purchased the compressor and belt. I installed them. I sent the fuel rails and injectors to Don for cleaning and service/calibration. I also installed new filter/s . Don't remember offhand exactly what had to be replaced but it did include at least one injector and maybe more. The fuel system service was around $1100 plus the cost of the compressor, plus the cost of 2 way shipping with insurance. Wasn't exactly cheap but it was done right and less than a powerhead. Oh yea, did I mention this was right before I sold it and had a buyer waiting ?
