Could be. They aren't that far from that brush pile
No problem seeing them when they aren't in the water column ... pretty sweet imaging. Could very well be a school of crappie holding off the side of that area with a little harder bottom.

Specks don't "need" brush piles or structure to hang on - I would say it's a good chance they are crappie TB.
I see them suspended in a couple places I fish deep and no where near anything, and I know they are crappie because I have spooned them up before...
