Need suggestions for a new trolling motor for my TR20

Any suggestions for the right trolling motor for my TR20. I just want foot controlled 24v. How many pound thrust would work best. Minn Kota or MotorGuide. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

TR20X nothing less than a 101, 52 in shaft. Can get good prices right now look in the trolling motors for sale section. And I don't fish tidal water. Big water longer shaft and more power is the way.

Depends on whether you want 2 or 3 batteries?? When I put a new TM on my boat this spring.......I stuck with 2 batteries and got the Fortrex 80lb.

I should also say - depends on whether you fish lakes or rivers. That makes a huge difference too. I fish lakes - so an 80lb TM works just fine on my boat. TR-196

I have a TR 20 dual console and 225 2002 82 ib trust Motorguide digital . I fishing in heavy tidal water on the James , Chickahominy and Potomac rivers . Never had any issues with an 82 lb trust .

I'll be fishing both lakes and rivers, I'm running a 101lb hand control with 3 batteries right now, I'm wanting to go with a foot control.

I fish the same stuff Dale Cook does with a TR 21 and I use a 24 volt 82 lb. motor. Can't see where I need 36 volt system and another 70 lbs in the rear.

I had a TR21/225 and it had the 24 volt 82 lb. Motor guide and it did extremely well
I don't ever remember not having enough power and I had that boat 7 years

My new boat has the 36 volt 101 lb Motor guide and I don't really notice any differrence
More than once I have considered going back to the 24 volt and dropping the weight of the third battery

Thanks for your input. Looks like the 24v 82lb seems to be the popular choice. I looked the idea of less weight in the rear. I'll look in that direction.

Really depends on water. I had a mk 80lb on mine when i bought it. (tr21) It worked fine but was slow going up river. But i fish heavy current in the mighty miss so i upgraded to 101lb. If you arent fishing main river currents or main channels 80 should be fine.
