Cool Have you ever WORKED an entertainment venue?

For 5 years in mid 90's a friend of mine who owns a security business, contracted out for different venues throughout. I dealt with entertainers and stage mgr's during that time. Most in the business were very professional. Others were just straight DH's. Watching CMA Fest....brought back memories. Stage mgr's would ask to bring 10-20 gorgeous girls up to barricades stage front. I'd tell my guys to go grab the kids from the cheap seats in very back nose bleed sections and bring them up front. Also used to take cameras from same area and take all pics they could "front stage" and give them back....not all security that work these places are *****s. Especially if many are hired p/t that are on active duty near military installation. Nicest person I ever met?? Tough answer but Vince Giil ranks up there. Hardest worker Aretha....she got behind curtain off stage and dropped. Her entourage was there in force. Figure skater Aksana Baiul was another that gave her all. Joe & Jane public see them in the limelight but afterwards those 45-90 min shows takes a toll on them.

Shows over, lights are up, get the package to their vehicle. Ok gang lets go home....until next time.

I was a bouncer for a very popular club while in college. It made me not like drunks, and not like crowds.

A former colleague of mine in the Mount Union Theater Department worked at a number of venues during his time in college and grad school He said about the same as the OP. Some entertainers and bands were great to work with and some were a PITA. I can't recall which groups he said where which, so I won't name names. I do recall that one band refused to go on until the several cases of booze they had demanded were delivered.

I am currently working as a stage hand at Hollywood Amphitheater. So far I've worked the warped tour, Dierks Bentley, Incubus, and Green Day. It's a fun job but hard work. What amazes me is how fast we tear down the stage afterwards. We knocked out the Green Day set in 1.5 hours. So far all of the touring stage managers have been super cool and easy going. Looking forward to Alice Cooper and Deep Purple.
