    Swaping Motors

Im currently running a 125 mercury on a H56. I am looking at a 175 merc to put on it, it only weighs 62 pounds more than the 125. Two things i worry about is if the boat can handle it and if the insurance continue to cover it. Has anyone already done this and any input would be grateful.

I think it's only rated for 150. Some h56 aren't even rated for 150. I know for certain if it's powered beyond the manufacturer plate a claim can be denied.

Most H56's were rated for a 130 max... I had an H56 rated for a 150 and it was fun. The 175 dont weight much different. The insurance would be my only concern.

It is a lot of motor for that small and light of a boat. I wish still had mine to play with.

I was told it had to do with the width of the stern. Mine was an 07 and rated for 140hp. Go figure. But since they no longer made a 140hp engine when I was ready to repower I went with the 150 proxs.

Mines rated for a 130. So y'all think a 175 might be a little much?

I definitely wouldn't put a 175 on it. As mentioned above not many were made to handle even a 150. It has to do with transom and transom support. Straight from xpress. Mine is a 97 and it flies and I still have a little more to get out of it.

150 or 175 same weight. I would do it but I don't always go with all the rules on most things anyway.

This one ran a best of 71mph light load. 2 people loaded to fish it would 67-68 all day long.
I had 11 inches of set back with a hyd jackplate, top 4 holes in the lower unit plugged and a 25p TXP 3 blade prop.
You can see in the second pick, I had a 5 inch manual jackplate bolted to the transom then a 6 inch cmc hyd jackplate bolted to it.

This is exactly how mine ran...
