2014 Merc 150 Pro XS
Ran about 3 miles top end with no issues (except the wind knocking the kill switch out 3 times). Slowed down to troll the area and look for some good spots when the motor started idling poorly and then choked. Cranked it back up only to hear a nasty high pitched squeal/grinding sound. Died again after about a minute and subsequently would die immediately after cranking back up until I just got towed to the ramp. Mechanic thinks it could be an air compressor but I've seen some videos of bad air compressors and this sounds a bit more menacing and abrasive. Any ideas? I know it's not a whole lot of info.
