    Replacing fiberglass fenders with metal

I put this in the Nitro forum but didn't have much luck.

I bought a new house and I have about 1/2 inch-1inch on each side of the garage door opening to back it in bc the fiberglass fenders extend 1-2 inches over the tires.

I am looking to replace them with metal fenders, but I can't use a generic fender bc the tail lights are not built into them like they are on my fiberglass ones.

Is there any place to get used trailer parts?

Idea: Can you remove any trim molding on the door opening to gain 1-2" extra? Easy to cut trim molding off about 3' up, and replace it when time to sell the house vs. replacing trailer fenders.

If you really want to do this, I would find a local welding shop that builds truck beds and etc.

Making custom fabricated fenders would probably be expensive Is my concern.

You could go with generic fenders and then just have some brackets made to mount lights on the back of the fenders.

Should be a fairly easy job for a welder. I have built them before, and there isn't much to it if you don't try to get too fancy. I am glad to help but am likely too far away.

Kind of what I'm thinking I will how to do. I wonder if Z8/Z9/Z20/Z21 fenders would fit?

Mine is a z8 with metal fenders. They should be able to be swapped out thats the way Nitro's are designed. 4 bolts and a brace, I think. What color is your fiberglass fenders?
If you think you have it bad...Look Around and BE THANKFUL because Someone Always Has it Worse!!
