I have a 99 tr21 with a 225 optimax turning a 25p tempest plus that has some wear. I can turn 5400 rpm but boats only running mid 60s loaded or not. Also has a 6inch jack plate at 2.5 prop to pad. What can I do to make the boat run in the 70s

First thing I would do is send your prop to Mark and see what it does when it comes back.
225 HP Standard Optimax on a 1999 Tr-21 will run 70 MPH ALL DAY LONG with a 25P Trophy Plus.......2-men Tournament loaded.
10 in plate and a 25 trophy, pretty dinged up. 2 poles. She would run if I would let her
2013 Legend 211R
2017 Ford F-150 Ecoboost
I have 99 tr21 3.0 225 25pitch no jackplate just can't get out of hole. Would the 10" plate be the best. Any help would be appreciated.
8"-10"
First do everything that's listed in this thread about fuel lines. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=22490 It sounds more like a fuel delivery at high speed problem.
My 99 TR21 has a 12" jackplate and 26P Bravo. She does 74-76 when I have the guts to drive her. 225 Yamaha rebuilt in 2015.
I would suggest NOT going with a 12" jackplate with a Mercury Optimax motor.
I'm having the same problem . Tr21,99,merc 225.
Let me know what prop you end up getting
Like savage says, that is a 69-70 mph loaded with 2 ppl all day long. I ran an A45 trophy and 26 Bravo 1XS with my 225 opti, 10" plate
Keith Broussard Caney Lake, Louisiana
2000 TR21 2000 Mercury 250 Pro XB OG980775 14" hydro plate
What did you end up doing, I have the same issues
Anyone run a 25p tempest plus?
I had the same motor......25P Trophy Plus is what you need, and will do 70 MPH, once you learn how to drive the boat.
My dad has a '00 TR21, 225 Opti, 25p Tempest+, 2 1/2 ptp, 10" jp, prop has not been worked,, 68-70 loaded heavy all day long.
’13 21 HP, 250 ProXS, 10” Atlas, twin Power Poles, 25p Croxtonized Tempest, 2 1/2 PTP, 1/2 tank fuel, driver, all gear, empty wells, 74.7 in 102 deg heat.
25 trophy plus
I used to run the same motor back in the day on mine. The 25 trophy plus it the way to go. I’d have Mark Croxton tweak it too.
