Silver Painted Lower Unit on 250 Optimax

I recently purchased a 2013 Phoenix with a Mercury 250 Optimax. The lower unit is painted a silver instead of black. I have seen other engines around the lake with the same paint scheme. Anyone know why the "Silver" verse black? Thanks
