    1998 20xd with 2006 merc 225 sport

been living at work for last month so a new prop is what I am going to get
out of this. what is ideal hydromotive prop for this set up. 14" set back hydraulic
plate etc. sport master 1.62 at1.5 to 1.75 above pad. ran a 27 hydro last year and ran great
needed a couple hundred more rpm. do not know which model it was that is why I
    am asking.

When I had that exact same set up and mota I ran at 1.5 above. My all round best prop was a 27 Hydro Q4 XOB...if that prop works fine for you but you need a little more RPM, you wanna send it off for a little tweaking.

so a 27 that has been tweaked is better than a 26 not to get that couple hundred rpm?

IMO it's hard to say. Every prop, boat, set up is gonna be different. Someone else my be able to give a more precise answer...? It's a trial and error deal and could take a while to maximize "your" boats potential.

Exactly! Glad Crank68 made this statement. I run a Gambler. Plan to repower with a 300xs and a sportmaster. Everybody says a Gambler won't run with a sporty....I beg to differ. I have a 1450lb hull.....yes.....it'll run with a sporty. Everybody's hull will run differently than someone else's hull.
